About Behzad Najafian

Behzad Najafian, M.D., is a board certified pathologist and UW associate professor of Pathology. He directs UW Medicine’s Renal Pathology Fellowship and Electron Microscopy Lab.

As a pathologist, Dr. Najafian’s goal is to provide accurate diagnosis and detailed interpretation of findings from kidney biopsies. He feels that every biopsy brings unique opportunities to help a patient, to learn more about a disease and to teach trainees.

Dr. Najafian earned his M.D. from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran. He is board certified in Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. His clinical and research interests include any kind of kidney diseases occurring in native or transplant kidneys, microscopy techniques including immunofluorescence and electron microscopy.

Personal Interests

In his free time Dr. Najafian enjoys hiking, camping, painting and reading.
