About David R. Byrd
David Byrd, M.D. is a UW professor of surgery and the section chief of Surgical Oncology.
He was the first surgeon to bring the sentinel lymph node biopsy technique to the Northwest.
Dr. Byrd's clinical expertise includes surgical oncology, endocrine neoplasms (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal), breast cancer, melanoma, and Merkel cell carcinoma.
Dr. Byrd's national focus is in staging of cancers where is the Chair of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC).
